In our planet, from its earliest times, man has coexisted with stone. In the Basque Country, man works the stone, shaping it according to his needs and so it has become a natural union. Forever adapting throughout time.

Because of this relationship between man and stone, a great number of customs arise, as are the widely practiced cultural sports where human strength and nature meet. Nowadays, stone forms an active part of open spaces in cities.

In the over 50 year old MARKINA quarries located in the Basque Country, is where the world famous and highly acclaimed Black marble blocks are extracted.
